Ferguson, The Real Problem

There is an epidemic in our land. It is progressive and insidious. It is slowly eroding the way of life we have known in America. No, it isn’t racism. It impacts every race of people, though some people groups seem to have an advanced case. The problem is the lack of emotionally and spiritually healthy parenting.

Homes that are filled with a mother’s and father’s love and strength are nearly exempt from this plague. Children who are raised with values and then who have the consistent presence of both a mother and father, no matter what nationality they are, would not be in the streets of Ferguson destroying things. Their parents would not allow them out of the house.

Parenting that is devoid of values both taught and modeled, and that never allows a child to feel the consequences of poor decisions rather blames everyone and everything else is at the root of what we see happening around the country. Gangs are a replacement for a dysfunctional family.

What do we do? Every parent or parent want to be needs to start by grasping the concepts taught in the Book of Proverbs in the Bible and the concepts taught by the Love and Logic group found here: http://www.loveandlogic.com

America, the problem isn’t something out there; the problem is who looks back at you and me in the mirror!

Blessings,

Scott

About Scott Ranck

Enjoying life with my wife Gayle and our Yorkie, Zoe boy. I've come to believe life begins when through brokenness I can embrace it fully and openly. I've learned the human drama is an adventure and all of us are made of the same stuff. The Lord is the only being who knows me fully and he has an individual educational plan of life long learning for me and I'm enrolled. This blog is all about what I'm learning.
