Well I just got home from running the Gasparilla Half-Marathon in downtown Tampa. My trooper wife Gayle got up early, I got up at 3:45am and she joined me shortly after that, and we headed downtown for the race. It was a coolish 54* out at race time. I believe about 4,000 people participated in the half and full marathon’s. We got to meet team Hoyt (see pic). It was a nice run around Davis Island and down the beautiful Bay Shore Blvd. My legs felt pretty strong but finishing these things is a battle of the will for me! I knocked about 2 minutes off my previous effort and ran the whole thing in a 7:56 minute per mile pace. I don’t have my official time yet but it will be 1:44:? We got home cleaned up and I feel good enough to head off to church! I had set a goal to finish under 1:45:00 and I did it! Thank the Lord for the ability he’s given the old man!

I just got the official report. My time was 144:43 and I finished 22nd out of 119 in my age bracket. I was very pleased with that finish!!
